Purpose and Objectives

OUR PURPOSE

To provide an innovative, student-centered, and development-oriented educational program aimed at training physicians of universal quality who are aware of society’s health problems, sensitive to these issues, and capable of producing solutions; who can deliver and manage contemporary, qualified health services; who act in accordance with scientific and ethical principles; who are inquisitive, investigative, able to work in teams, use the technology required by the era, communicate effectively, demonstrate leadership qualities, and serve as health advocates.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Educational Objectives

• To train physicians who can practice preventive medicine for individuals and the environment.
• To recognize and treat common diseases and causes of death in society, with an emphasis on preventive medicine principles.
• To respect medical ethics, love their profession, maintain a lifelong desire to learn, know methods of accessing information, and possess the values and responsibilities required by medical practice.
• To establish appropriate and effective relationships with patients, their relatives, and people in their environment.
• To value teamwork and possess the knowledge and skills to lead and guide a team.
• To have proficiency in a professional foreign language (English).
• To plan, conduct, and understand scientific research.
• To quickly access high-level critical information based on evidence-based medicine principles and to develop literature review skills.
• To educate both undergraduate and postgraduate (medical students and residents) students in accordance with modern medical education principles.

Research Objectives

• To develop and sustain an understanding of knowledge and project production in research and development fields.
• To establish a multidisciplinary working infrastructure by combining interdisciplinary knowledge, experience, and originality.
• To encourage interdisciplinary studies.
• To facilitate projects, research, and educational activities, and to promote the conduct and publication of internationally recognized research.

Service Objectives

• To provide advanced healthcare services through Akdeniz University Health Research and Application Center (Hospital).
• To facilitate society’s access to healthcare services and to play a role in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring specialized care (such as transplantation, cancer treatments, etc.) and rare diseases.
• To take part in ethics committees and regulatory boards.
• To provide health education and counseling in schools and communities.
• To engage in disaster response and humanitarian aid activities.
• To develop and contribute to the sustainability of the quality culture established in the hospital.
• To monitor efforts aimed at ensuring the safety and satisfaction of our students (both undergraduate and postgraduate), faculty members, and staff
